Layne, this was a very good description of a lens that you have. I actually found myself relating a lot to it. When I began my lens task I remembered thinking some of the same things that you did concerning life teaching that differences are out there and people often judge others based on them. I think this is also important to recognize in a classroom and when teaching literature because literature doesn't sugar coat how people are treated when they are different. I think a lot of the books we have read in class are examples of that and they tend to emphasize how the differences people have do result in things like discrimination and prejudice.
