I love your comparison to rose colored glasses, innocence and the darker hues. I agree with you that growing up with defining characteristics and your parents not putting much emphasis on them really doesn't help you in understanding that you look at life with these lenses. But that these characteristics do influence your perspectives and are unique to each individual.
