I can easily relate to your feelings about people in your classes not reading the assigned material. I was also very appalled when I heard about classmates in highschool using cliff notes and to this day I have never even looked in one. Actually reading a book is so fulfulling that I feel like you are only cheating yourself when you don't bother to read. The examples of the types of material you like to read that you gave are very in tune with your values and your description of yourself as an "old fashioned girl". I too love to read romances and stories with happy endings, and I feel like I have an "old fashioned" kind of personality too.
