Re: Joanna's Lens PaperBy: ElizabethDate: 4/23/03 1:34 PM There definitely is something about reading the same books your parents did when they were young that is kind of magical. I used to read my mother's old textbooks from elementary school and I felt like I was travelling back in time. Of course when I was little I thought she had lived in the stone ages and that the 1950's was five hundred years ago. But reading her dusty old textbooks with stories about Dick and Jane and Spot really made me feel like I had a connection with her because it helped me envision her as a child reading the same thing. Now when she recommends a book to me I always read it because it builds on the same kind of connection. No responses
